Massachusetts - Independence Party of America
Questions: Eulogy on Samuel Adams? How does this sound? What can I say about Samuel Adams? He lived an amazing and fulfilling life with a list of achievements that had such positive effects on us all. In four short words I would describe him as an American Patriot and Politician. What was such a great life you may ask? After graduating from Harvard College he ended up having his own private business, but after that didn’t end up working out he decided he would switch his main focus into politics. He ended up doing so many great things such as having a leading role in the Boston Tea Party, one of the founders of the Sons of Liberty, signed the Declaration of Independence, serving in the Continental Congress, Lt. Governor and Governor, and MA State Senate. Adams was a vocal opponent of several laws passed by the British Parliament to raise revenue in the American Colonies; and by 1773, Adams and his Boston associates had pressured England to rescind all these measures but one, the Tea Act. The Tea Act was an Act of the Parliament of Great Britain to raise the tax on tea. Because of this opposition for the tea act reached it's peak resulting in the tea ships about to arrive, and Adams and the Boston Committee of Correspondence contacted nearby committees to rally support. Adams wrote a circular letter calling for a mass meeting to be held at Faneuil Hall on November 29. Thousands of people arrived, so many that the meeting was moved to the larger Old South Meeting House. This led to many colonists refusing the shipments of tea from three ships and then colonists boarding the ships and destroying the tea by throwing it into Boston Harbor. In 1774 the Massachusetts legislature sent Adams and four others as its representatives to the First Continental Congress Adams served Massachusetts again at the Second Continental Congress where he was an advocate for independence and confederation for the American Colonies. As being one of the founders The Sons of Liberty which was a secret organization of American patriots which originated in the Thirteen Colonies during the A
I guess your eulogy is okay although I felt that I was reading a biography as I was reading it. Perhaps, you could add some of Samuel Adams' anecdotes and how these relate to your experience or encounters with him. Including your personal experiences and how he touched your life would make add that personal touch to your eulogy. We usually do eulogies to pay tribute to a person who passed away and the best way to do this is to reminisce how he has become a significant part of our life.
You seemed to have a good eulogy on Samuel Adams, but I would love to see how he really works hard for the country or any heroic deeds. Anyway, I wonder whether what his part in the Independence of America was. Independence of America is one of the significant events and we all honor this to show that we truly value the people who have been part of the Independence.
It nice to hear that people are now really sensitive of the preparation of the independence day. I am actually booking a flight to America next month and it will be a good act if I can go in that area as soon as possible. I would be very excited to know how Americans do and celebrate there anniversary of their freedom, I am excited to that event. I hope many people would be very happy that day.
Samuel Adams..seems a bit late to compose a eulogy for him, as he's been dead for over 200 years, but I suppose better late than never. :) Sounds like you've done some studying up on the guy, good job on that! Perhaps it might be even more appealing to your hearers if you approached it from the angle of a close friend without sounding anachronistic. Or instead of delivering the eulogy in the form of a biography, perhaps list off his main attributes and achievements in point form.
